Proddy Flowers with Jan Cole
When: Friday, June 19, 2026
Time: 9-12 am
You asked and we listened. The Wool’n Gardener will again be offering a workshop to learn how to make these amazing“SPRING PRODDY FLOWERS” (for all seasons)!!!! Students will learn, from start to finish, how to create these beautiful 8”-9” wool flowers. Jan uses a slightly different method to make the petals, creating a 4-pronged petal to make the flower very full and lush! Take this opportunity to use up some of your stash and wool odds and ends!!!!!!!!! Once you have mastered the proddy flowers, the possibilities are absolutely endless – maybe creating a wreath next (those kits will be available for purchase)!
The class includes (kit-a $30 value):
*Instruction/demonstration from start to finish – including individual instruction to each student
*Linen backing for 2 flowers
*Templates for center of flower and petals
*2 vintage/antique bedsprings
*4 wool leaves (2 for each flower) - Bonus for this class only (not normally included with kit)
*stuffing for flower (I use wool dryer lint and (since I process a lot of wool) will have some available)
Students to bring:
***hooking frame and hook (5” center of flower is hooked)
***noodles for hooking center of flower in color of your choice (I use 8-1/2 or 9 cut) - PLEASE NOTE: IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO COMPLETE THIS PROCESS PRIOR TO THE WORKSHOP SO THAT YOU CAN FOCUS ON CREATING AND ADDING THE PETALS, I WILL SEND THE LINEN TO YOU WITH THE TEMPLATE OF THE FLOWER DRAWN).
***the equivalent of ½ yard of wool for each flower – I encourage using at least 3 different wools (colors, values, textures) or odds and ends to mix – petals are shaped from a 3” square so pieces should be no smaller than 3 x 3. I will also have wool available for sale.
***an 8 x 8 piece of wool for the back of the flower
***proddy tool (optional) – I find using a proddy tool puts less stress on my wrist, hand and shoulder. A hemostat can also be used but care has to be taken that the wool does not fray when pulling it through the linen–(I am reserving all the proddy tools I have in stock for the class and will have a limited number of tools available).
***embroidery thread to coordinate with wool – (I use either OTF or Valdani #8)
***scissors – I use a 6”-7” scissor to cut the wools petals
**Cancellations should be made by May 1 to receive a refund.
