Do you like to hook more than you like to cut? Then this is a must have for all rug hookers! We are happy to be offering custom made dies for the Sizzix Big Shot cutting machine. These dies work fabulously to cut wool for rug hooking. We have dies in the following sizes: #3,4,5,6,7, 8, 8.5, 9 and 10. The machine cuts 3 layers of wool at one time, all perfectly cut strips with very little waste. A #8 or 1/4 inch die will cut 19 strips if you cut just one layer, 57 strips with 3 layers.
#8 strips measure 1/4 of an inch. This die is 19 1/2 inches long with an 18 inch cutting area.

25 inch plastic pads are necessary to use these dies. The shorter pads you received with your Sizzix machine will not work as they will not extend the length of the cutting area. The 25 inch plastic pads are sold separately here on our website or as an add on option above.

What do I need to use this?
You need the die, the set of 25 inch plastic pads and the Sizzix machine.
What is the difference between this die and the "Shorty" dies?The long dies should be your primary “go to” die for your favorite size. It is for volume cutting though you can also cut just a few strips. The shorty dies are a great option for traveling because of their smaller size but still offer great cutting or if you want to ad to your die collection with a lesser used size.
Can I use an accuquilt machine?
No, these dies are made to work with Sizzix machines. You can use the Sizzix Big shot or any other Sizzix machine that has a 6 inch opening.
How long do the dies last?
We started using this amazing die cutting system in 2012 and our first die is still going strong and cutting as perfect as the first day we used it.
Can I cut other things?
Yes, most definitely! Die cutting systems are meant to cut a variety of fabrics and you can even cut paper for scrapbooking. Sizzix has hundreds of wonderful products for scrapbooking and quilting.

I'm relatively new to rug hooking and have been looking at cutting options. Really love this #8 die cut! The first cut took some muscles, but it's been smooth sailing ever since. Love being able to make my own worms super speedy now. Next up, learning how to dye!

This is just SO MUCH BETTER than old school crank handle cutters. I resisted buying one due to the price but finally caved and am loving it. This method saves a lot of time by cutting so many strips at once, and you can make them really long by folding the wool over on itself which is perfect if you want to use and Oxford punch instead of hooking.
